FabTakeoff produces a steel material list from the bid drawings you send us. That is the entire deliverable: quantities, shapes, lengths, spec grades and piece marks, delivered as an Excel file, with a note listing anything the drawings did not resolve.
We do not provide erection pricing, shop labor hours, connection design, engineering, stamped or sealed drawings, shop drawings, or a bid total. Nothing we send you is engineering work and nothing we send you is signed by an engineer.
If joists, deck, or miscellaneous metals fall outside your scope, tell us when you request a quote and we will leave them out.
This is the most important clause here. A FabTakeoff material list is a budgetary quantity document produced at bid stage. It is not a substitute for your own verification against the issued construction documents.
You are responsible for checking our quantities before you submit a number you are bound to. Steel bidding carries risk that no takeoff can remove, and the decision to rely on any quantity is yours.
If we make an error in our work — a shape misread, a length wrong against the drawing, a member missed that the drawings clearly showed — tell us and we will correct it at no charge. Point us at the sheet and the line and we will re-check it.
What that does not cover: scope you told us to exclude, quantities the drawings did not resolve and that we flagged as unresolved, changes issued after the set you sent us, and disagreements about interpretation where the drawings genuinely support both readings.
Price is a flat fee set by the total page count of the set you send, per the table on our pricing page. We confirm the page count when we open the set. If the real count lands in a different tier than you estimated, we tell you the corrected price before you pay anything.
Payment is due before work begins. We send a payment link; work starts when payment clears. A takeoff is hours of work that cannot be taken back once it is emailed, and paying up front is what keeps the price at a few hundred dollars rather than an estimator's day rate.
Standard turnaround is the next business day from the time payment clears. Same-day turnaround is available at a 50% surcharge, subject to capacity that day — ask before you pay for it, and we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it.
If we are going to miss a committed date, we will tell you as soon as we know rather than let the date pass quietly.
You send us a link to your drawings. You confirm you have the right to share them with us for this purpose.
We treat your drawings and your material list as confidential. We do not publish them, resell them, share them with anyone else, or use them to bid against you. The sample published on our site is our own completed work, with the building name and every identifying detail removed.
The list we deliver is yours. Price it, send it to your purchasing team and your mills, mark it up, bid from it, keep it — you paid for it and none of it needs our permission. The only line we put on it is who prepared it, and the reminder that it is a bid-stage document to verify before you submit.
Send a link that stays accessible until the work is delivered, set so anyone with the link can view it. Tell us about scope limits and any addenda you already hold. If the link expires or the permissions block us, the clock stops until we can open the set.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected to a job is limited to the fee you paid for that job. We are not liable for lost profits, lost bids, consequential damages, or the outcome of any bid you submit.
This is the normal arrangement for bid-stage quantity work. If your project needs a different risk allocation, that is a conversation to have before you send the set, not after.
If you cancel before we start, we refund in full. If you cancel after we have started, we will work out something fair based on what is already done — ask us.
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your job is the one published when you paid for it.
